Vrchlabi is the gate to Krkonose (Giant Mountains). The town has very wide offer of accommodation (hotels and apartments), many restaurants and cultural and sport opportunities.

The distance to Spindleruv Mlyn is only 15 km, to Strazne and to Benecko it is only 10 km and the accommodation in Vrchlabi is cheaper than in other mountain resorts. To the famous places of interest in Vrchlabi belongs the renaissance chateau Vrchlabi from the year 1546, cloister and the church of St. Augustine. The dominant point of the town is the Town Hall (originally renaissance) which was built in the year 1591. In the years 1732–1737 it was rebuilt in baroque style. The roman inscription on the tower clock is very interesting. To other significant sights belong the dean's church of St. Lawrence, Marian plague column, the sculpture of St. Anna and folk architecture in Vrchlabi which is shown in three houses (Nr. 222, 223, 224) on the Mir square (Square of Peace). These houses with arcade and single roof are used as the information centre of the Management of Krkonose (Giant Mountains) National Park and for exhibitions and expositions of the Krkonose Museum. The rich collections of the Krkonose Museum, archives and expositions are worth of seeing. The Krkonose Museum was established in 1882. The typical beer fete is organized in Vrchlabi every year. Accommodation in Vrchlabi is suitable for its location, you have a special chance to know the whole Krkonose (Giant Mountains). The central part of the town is situated 480 metres above the sea level. Visit Vrchlabi, you will be surprised that there is a wide offer of cultural and sport opportunities. And it is very close to the mountains, you can use the ski-bus!

Skiing Vrchlabi

The town Vrchlabi belongs the most visited places in the Giant Mountains in both, winter and sommer season. You will appreciate pleasant skiing in the ski area Herlikovice and Knezicky Vrch in winter. Skiing Herlikovice Ski area Herlíkovice is situated 4 km from the centre of Vrchlabi, direction Spindleruv Mlyn. Herlikovice offers double chair lift 1450 m long, ski lift and ski slopes of all degrees of difficulty. The cableway leads to the top of Zaly mountain - 1019 metres above sea level. Herlíkovice has one red ski slope along the cableway and black slope 1400 m long with elevation of 410 metres. You can reach the ski area Bubakov with other ski lifts thanks the blue slope. The ski area Bubakov in Vrchlabi offers very good skiing conditions. Skiing Knezicky Vrch Knezicky vrch – it is the best skiing for whole family in the surroundings of Vrchlabi. Ski lift for beginners as well as for good skiers is 850 metres long. Knezicky vrch has 2 ski lifts, 2 km ski slopes with transport capacity 1800 people/hour.
