Bike route From Liberec to Trojmezi

The cycling lane along the river Luzicka Nisa take us to visit our neighbours, to the places where meets three states: The Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. It would be easy to go from Liberec via Chrastava to Hradek nad Nisou, but this way is not very interesting. Our lane should be more pleasant.
The course of route.
This route is easy.We start on the north-west border in Liberec (the train station Krasna Studanka). We go according to the green tourist mark to the west to the village Belidlo. We rise up to the top place to the saddle (there are relics of the fortification around). From this place we go along the asphalt road down in the north-west direction, around the gamekeepers` house, via Viska to Chrastava. We go from Chrastava on the road to Vaclavice and visit the castle Grabstejn. We go to Chotyne to the bridge across the river Nisa. We join the cycling lane here and it leads us to Hradek nad Nisou. If we go on this road through Hradek to the national border and we cross the bridge here, we get near to the open air pool Kristyna (mained out lignite quarry). It is possible to across the national border in the tourist border crossing point and to get to Zittau (Zitava). To come back it is good to use the same route along the river to Chotyne and go on via Bily Kostel to Chrastava. From Chrastava along the marked cycling lane nr. 21 in the direction to Andelska Hora. We go up to the saddle where is small train station and we go in the wood over the river Nisa (view of the ruin Hamrstejn) and we go out of the wood to Machnin. We go to the right to across the bridge and go on along the cycling lane nr. 14, we join the road to the left to Straz nad Nisou to the place, where we start our way. If we go to the right, the road would lead us to the centre of Liberec.

Natural and cultural places of interest
Grabstejn
The castle in the Renaissance style on the Gothic grounds. Open for public.
Hamrstejn
The ruin of the castle, it was built on the rock headland over the river. It is wasted since the 16th century, it has been come down the enclosure wall with the basis of the two towers, part of the building and engraved cellars in the rock.
Hradek nad Nisou
The town situated near the Trojmezi of the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. Ingeneering industry, textile and wood industry. It has been come down several timber and brick houses of the folk architecture. The baroque church was rebuilt from the Gothic chapel.
Chotyne
The village from the 14th century, tries of the mining of gold and coal in the past times. Over the road to Dolni Sucha there is a ferric source of the ochre colour. It was used for spa in the past times.
Chrastava
Since the 13th century it was a mining village, later the development of the textile industry. Pseudo-gothic church, the west tower comes from the year 1586. The town hall comes from the year 1646, fontain comes from the year 1717. We can visit there interesting fire museum.
Liberec
The town with the developed textile and engineering industries, the production of the articles from the plastic materials. The first notes about the villages come from the year 1352, the development of the town began in the 16th century. To remember the old town Liberec see the Valdstejn houses in the Vetrna street in the middle of the town from the 17th century. The Renaissance castle has also name “glass”, there is the biggest exposition of the glass in the world which is open for public, we find there more than 40,000 exhibits and everything shows up in the mirrors. Pseudo-renaissance town hall has 65 metres high main tower. There are many churches. There is a ZOO and botanic gardens. The hill Jested (1,012 m above the sea level) makes the dominant of the town Liberec. There is a TV transmitter on the top of the hill which was built in the sixties of the 20th century and it is 92 metres tall.
